Previous modifications on this particular job precluded fitting of the newer style C more single sided mount. The old scope was disassembled from the base and a complex coupling made of engineering grade aluminium. A Stainless gas shield was then added to prevent damage to the lens. Features of the coupling include threaded and countersunk fastner locations, weight saving machined areas, and an interference fit recess to reduce liklihood of damage to the assembly under recoil
